What do we need?

More Volunteers to drive:

The way it works is this. You will get a phone call asking if you can take a patient to an appointment on a particular day. If you are able to do it, great! If not simply say no. We would not expect any one driver to do more than two drives a week, maximum.

How do I volunteer?

Volunteer drivers will be reimbursed at 45p per mile plus the cost of any parking charges you may incur.

More volunteers to help at Coffee Morning

Your name would be put on a rota every six weeks roughly.

More coordinators to match drivers to patients.

For just one week every 3 months or so:-

Coordinators volunteer to receive phone calls from people needing a lift to a medical appointment. They then find a suitable driver from a list provided and will advise the patient. The driver will have details of the client's address and telephone number and will be informed of the destination of the appointment. Patients are asked to give reasonable notice of an appointment, and drivers should ring the patients, usually the day before, to confirm that they are ready to be driven to their destination.

A coordinator is an essential part of Headley Voluntary Care and with a little training and some patience, it is an easy and fulfilling task. You would be helping the community.

If you would like to help people in need in your community, please ring the helpline on 01428 717389. You would be doing a job that the needy clients are always extremely grateful for!
